I’m happy to report that we exceeded the magic number of 100! So this an acknowledgement to every donor and volunteer for changing 108 lives on Christmas Eve.
Because of donors and volunteers, I was able to give the following to our homeless brothers and sisters in the downtown Nashville area:
108 stockings 108 blankets 100 soap bars 100 toothbrushes 100 toothpastes 100 sanitizing wipes 100 bandaids 100 bandanas 100 waters 100 personal encouragement notes 100 cans of stew 100 spoons 100 sandwiches 178 candy canes 100 bags of chips 100 pieces of candy 10 hats 3 scarves Additionally, I enter next year’s annual Christmas for the Homeless with the following: 70 soap bars 70 toothbrushes 70 toothpastes 70 sanitizing wipes 70 bandaids Having these numbers will make approaching more local businesses and organizations about partnerships easier for me in the new year. This year’s initiative involved forming partnerships with other local organizations already working to counter homelessness in Nashville. The Contributor and members from Cosplayers Collective joined us during our giveaway. During our giveaway, the goal was to survey the areas we visited for potential vendors. To my surprise, there were many homeless men and women who had found work in town or neighboring counties. I caught up with a lady I used to see often in town. She told me she has a new job in downtown Nashville. Another man told me he cleans barns for a guy in Sumner County. Talking with each of them reminded me to always give them the benefit of the doubt. Too often do we assume we know everything there is to know about a homeless person. It feels great to know that some of our homeless brothers and sisters are taking the necessary steps to establish steady employment and secure an apartment. There’s still so much more to do. With this partnership, I aim to aid them in any way I can. In 2019, I have so many things planned for my partnership with The Contributor that all I can say is stay tuned. Follow me on my socials @UrbanThreads615 for updates on this partnership and more. Enjoy the visuals! Have a blessed day. |
