For this week’s beat, I must take the time out to introduce you all to R&B/Soul Artist Morgan Bosman. From St. Louis to Nashville, Morgan Bosman carries her jazz and soul background to every performance. In 2014, she won Nashville’s Hard Rock Battle of the Bands. Within that same year, she was featured on the American Songwriter’s Magazine website, a magazine that’s been dedicated to music and songwriting since 1984. Since then, she’s been featured in a number of local publications and received a nomination for Best Female R&B/Soul Artist at the Nashville Industry Music Awards.
Being the product of musicians and singers, Bosman’s been surrounded by music and instruments her entire life. Currently, you can find Bosman sharing her love for both in live performances or during jam sessions on her YouTube channel. Her respect for each instruments’ individual sound is heard in her tracks. Her tracks are playful, raw and relatable to any listening ear. However, she’s serious about social issues affecting our nation. When asked about her response to recent media coverage on the gun violence issue in St. Louis, the St. Louis native shared what she feels need to happen. “I think there needs to be a conversation between the community and community leaders. For any progress we need to be willing to have these conversations and be open to hearing each other. There tends to be too many who close their ears to these conversations because the issue doesn't affect them directly,” stated Morgan Bosman. “That particularly becomes a problem when it's the community leaders who choose not to engage in these conversations. I think a good start is continuing to have open dialogue about gun violence and what we can all do as a community moving forward.” Artistically, she plans to use her music to bring awareness to social issues and spread love. “I write a lot of songs about love, not just romantic love, but true love. The kind of love this world needs because if we all spoke and acted out of love towards ourselves and each other, so much positive change would happen,” said Morgan Bosman.
