"New Year, New You", Not Necessary

1/23/2018

I’m all for a good challenge but let’s be real. Some resolutions are too much. In the past 23 days, I’m sure you’ve heard insane weight loss goals and drastic diet changes that are bound to fall apart after the newness of the New Year wears off. So why wait for the screw up? Let’s admit that we’re probably not going to stick to whatever resolution we’ve made but it’s okay. We are not perfect. In fact, we are so imperfect that we rely on an “annual renewal” to occur before we get a jumpstart on a new change. Yet, many of us still make them, myself included.

Not one to call them resolutions, I do give up things or set goals I’d like to reach over the course of the new year. But I do this seven days a week, four weeks a month, 12 months a year, ALL YEAR LONG. Basically, I aim to evolve with each year I’m blessed to experience. In order to enhance my life, I am intentional about correcting the behavior I don’t like about myself and fixing the things that bother me the most. So what did I come up with this year? I’m delighted to share.

Here’s my list of things I plan to be more intentional about changing in 2018:

  1. I'm putting myself first in all situations. I VOW to do more for MYSELF this year.
  2. Prioritize my passions. Expect completed projects in 2018. No excuses.
  3. Use cash over my debit card unless I'm paying for something online. Save all of my change from each day until Dec. 31, 2018. Coinstar or my bank will be my friend that day!
  4. Get active in settling community issues that bother me and so many others. Use social media tags and temp. photo filters to stand in solidarity with others on national issues.
  5. Continue to uplift myself and others by spreading positivity and love!
  6. Make real change for the less fortunate.
  7. No sodas or sweets, only water and natural juices (homemade juices/smoothies, you catch my drift) until June 21st. That's the first day of summer and I'll need my slushy, y'all!

My list may seem extensive now but follow me on social media to track my progress. Also, let me know some of your goals for the year. I’d be thrilled to hear them!
