Nashville Predators Make History

Donald and Daffy who? At the moment, the most famous ducks in history are NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and not in a good way. We have the Nashville Predators to thank for that!

May 22nd prompted a turn of events for the Nashville Predators as they became the 2017 Western Conference Champions. They are proof that being the underdog can sometimes be a problem for your opponent.

If you haven’t bought any Predators gear, head to your nearest retail store to land some gear before the Stanley Cup Finals starts. The Nashville Predators and Pittsburgh Penguins will face off on May 29th in Philadelphia.

To the Nashville Predators, I’m sure Nashvillians will bring that electrifying support outside of the Bridgestone Arena. The city is behind you all and praying for safe travels to Pittsburg and back home to the 615.

GO PREDS!

Liven Your Spring With Nashville Zoo Events, Part II

Finish your spring with these great annual events at Nashville Zoo as they celebrate their 20th Anniversary! You know what they say, "Time flies when you're having fun."

Zoovie Night (May 26, June 23rd)

From Movies in the Park to Shakespeare in the Park, it’s no secret that Nashvillians love a night out in a lawn. Add popcorn and stars to the equation and we’ve got ourselves a movie night with family and friends. Your next one can be in Nashville Zoo’s lawn!

Imagine watching animal-themed movies like Paddington and Zootopia not too far away from actual animals. Zoovie Night is your chance to do that and more! Plus, guests may take advantage of the carousel and zipline services after hours. The fun doesn’t end there.

There will be face painting, inflatables and music before the main event at sunset. After 6 pm, the animal trails will close and all guests must stay in the Festival Field. For the event breakdown and more details, visit Nashville Zoo’s site. This event is presented by Southern Icee.

Zzzoofari Slumber (May 27-28th)

A kid may never spend a “night at the museum” but what about at Nashville Zoo? Zzzoofari Slumber is an annual camp event that allows kids ages 4-12 years old to spend a night at the zoo. Their night will start at 4 pm with crafts and tent set-up and end at 9:30 pm with a campfire, hot dogs and marshmallow roast. I wish I could go back to being 12 years old for this! Who wouldn’t want to swap zzz’s with exotic animals?

Animals, hayrides, s’mores and tents, it is practically impossible to say no to this much excitement. All children and families are bound to enjoy themselves at this event. Want to get in on the excitement? Register your family for Zzzoofari Slumber at Nashville Zoo’s site. While there, check out Nashville Zoo’s packing list and suggested items for this camp session. You do not want to arrive unprepared.

Brew at the Zoo (June 2)

Think back to when I posted a beat on the craft beer culture in Nashville. In it, I talked about how the East Nashville Beer Festival supports Ride for Reading, a nonprofit organization that collects and delivers books on bike to children at Title I schools in Nashville. I bring this matter up to say that Nashville Zoo offers a unique craft beer experience to benefit a bigger cause as well.

This year marks the sixth annual Brew at the Zoo. There will be over 100 craft beers. Additionally, local food trucks will serve Brew patrons. Expect animal encounters! The objective is to give beer lovers an event at Nashville Zoo while raising money for rainforest conservation efforts. There are different ticket types available for purchase so visit Nashville Zoo for more information. Brew at the Zoo is June 2nd from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm.

Nashville Zoo advises all patrons who plan to drink to drink responsibly. Do not drink and drive. Special Lyft codes will be provided for Brew at the Zoo patrons. Have a game plan with your group before arriving just in case you all have any issues. Most importantly, enjoy yourself but do not jeopardize your life, or anyone else’s, for a reckless mistake. Again, do not drink and drive! Check Nashville Zoo for pricing information and more.

Member Night (June 16)

Just like store membership cards, there are incentives for having a Nashville Zoo membership. It may not be 15% off retail price, but it’s an entire night for members only. That’s right, members get special treatment at Nashville Zoo. Throughout the year, Nashville Zoo hosts member nights to give Zoo members a chance to have the zoo to themselves. Check with Nashville Zoo for more details about the next Member Night on June 16th.

Don’t be the last to know about their summer events. Head over to Nashville Zoo to get a 90-day schedule of their upcoming events. Remember to check back here in August for the latest on the Nashville Zoo.

Meanwhile, watch TruTalks Episode 3 where I talked with Nashville Zoo's Director of Marketing and Public Relations Jim Bartoo and Director of Animal Operations Greg Peccie about future exhibits and more below. Lastly, go see the new Spider Monkey exhibit on your next visit to the zoo.
